Rain Spots - Upholstery
Cleaning rain spots upholstery-wise can be difficult, though it is really just a matter of knowing how to do it right the first time.
There are lots of reasons why rain spots (upholstery can be affected by these drops) can occur on a piece of furniture that is meant for the outdoors or inside of your car. Either way, the cleaning process is roughly the same. To begin this cleaning treatment, start with a vacuum. Using a small brush attachment, vacuum the spot until all dirt has been removed from the area. Then, run a steam cleaner over the area in order to deep clean it. Next, purchase a bottle of upholstery cleaner according to the type of piece that you are dealing with.
If you are working with the inside of a car, use a cleaner from an auto store. If you are working with a piece of indoor furniture, use a specialty cleaner designed for the material that you have. Also, you may try your luck with baby wipes...yes, you read that right...baby wipes. Since wipes tend to get everything really clean, yet they don’t contain too much soap or water, they are ideal for a quick wipe down. Of course, if you have a particularly delicate fabric covering your piece, be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions regarding cleaning the piece (usually, these are located somewhere on the piece itself).
The only thing that you want to avoid is soaking the material with too much water. If you soak those cushions, you could end up with a big mess. Then again, rain spots upholstery-wise are not that difficult to remove, so a simple vacuum, steam, wipe process should do the trick. If you want to protect your car or furniture from these spots in the future, make sure to cover the piece whenever you are not using it. While it can be impossible to guess when it will rain, if the piece is covered all the time you will be safe.
Cleaning any type of stain or spot from your furniture can be frustrating. Still, it is just another part of life that we all must deal with. Remember to check the area for dirt before you begin to clean it, then you can easily wash away the remainder.
Cleaning rain spots upholstery-wise is as easy as vacuum, steam, and wipe – that’s all there is to it.
